Till now. we have introduced 36 alphabets.

Out of these alphabets 18 are consonants.
( ட், ப், ம், ச், க், த், ந், வ், ய், ர், ல், ள், ன், ண், ழ், ங், ஞ், ற் )

These alphabets are called "maiyaezuththughal" (மெய்யெழுத்துகள்)

It is having "dot" on its head. (ய்)

Other 18 alphabets are called "Vowel consonant combinations".
(உயிர் மெய்யெழுத்துகள்)
( ட, ப, ம, ச, க, த, ந, வ, ய, ர, ல, ள, ன, ண, ழ, ங, ஞ, ற )

In tamil both vowel and consonant combines together to form this type of alphabets - (vowel consonant combination)

for example (ik + a = ka)(க் + அ = க) Let us call "ka" as "vowel consonant combination" alphabet.

Till now we have introduced 18 vowel consonant combination for " vowel a (அ) "
